Lyndie Benson-Gorelick filed papers in Los Angeles, California asking for a legal separation from her husband of 20 years and jazz saxophone player Kenneth Gorelick, better known as Kenny G. Although Benson-Gorelick only filed for a separation, celebrity watchers, noting the high-powered lawyers that both spouses have hired, expect the couple is heading towards a divorce. The couple has two sons.

Benson-Gorelick cited "irreconcilable differences" in her paperwork. That does not reveal much about the problems in their marriage. California is a no-fault divorce state and irreconcilable differences is an all-encompassing grounds for divorce.

A lot of money is at stake. According to TMZ, Kenny G is rumored to be worth about $50 million. California is a community property state and so everything gained during the marriage is considered marital property and both spouses are entitled to 50 percent. It is unclear as to whether a prenuptial agreement was drafted prior to the marriage that could alter the property division.

According to Wikipedia, Kenny G has sold 75 million copies of his albums, making him "the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era." His album "Breathless" broke all records for sales of instrumental albums. He has worked with many giants of the music world, including Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson and Andrea Bocelli,

Benson-Gorelick seems to have led a private life, seldom appearing in the news before the separation. She is asking for full physical custody of their 14-year-old son. Their other son is an adult.
